The abbreviation CRC stands for Child Registration Certificate. NADRA issues CRCs in Pakistan. The CRC is also known as the FORM-B. The CRC is an important document. Pakistani citizens are issued CRCs by NADRA and their records are kept in the family tree. CRCs are essential for everyone.

CRCs can be obtained from the Union Council by providing proof of childbirth. National Identity Cards (NIC)/National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) are required for parents of overseas Pakistani children. Any NADRA Registration Center (NRC) can process your CRC application.

The NADRA Child Registration Certificate: Process to Obtaining in Pakistan

Birth certificates play an important role in establishing the legal identity of a child. Child Registration Certificates (CRCs) or B-forms are birth certificates in Pakistan. Minors younger than 18 are registered using this form. An individual without a CRC can have difficulty obtaining a Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) once he/she reaches 18 years of age. A CNIC can be used for a variety of purposes, including proving Pakistani citizenship, obtaining social benefits, and health care, enrolling in schools, voting, and registering for bank accounts.

World Bank Group data shows that only 34% of Pakistani men and 33% of Pakistani women have registered their births. Many complications arise when CNICs are obtained later on. As a result, people cannot access essential services.

A Child Registration Certificate (CRC) or B-form in Pakistan is obtained by following the basic steps in this article.

The union council can issue a CRC if documentation of childbirth is provided. Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) are required for child registration.

Note: First blood relatives are allowed to register births if the parents are out of the country or deceased (if the parents are deceased).

Registration at the Union Council requires the following documents:

  • The CNIC of the parents.
  • Traditional birth attendants or hospitals issue birth certificates.

No fee is charged by the Union Council for proof of childbirth. 

The delivery date for documents will be set as follows:

  • Three days are needed for normal registration.
  • If you register your child late, you will have to wait seven working days (for children between 61 days and 7 years old).
  • The registration process takes 20 working days for children older than 7 years old.

For CRC, You will need the following documents

  • CNICs are required for all parents and guardians of minors. We will also require biometric verification.
  • Certificate of birth from Union Councilor School (children over the age of 10)

Steps for applying to the CRC:

Applicants are encouraged to visit their nearest NADRA Registration Center (NRC) in order to obtain a Child Registration Certificate (CRC).

  • The Parent/Guardian will receive a token. You will be notified of your token number and counter number once your turn has come.
  • A photograph of each parent or guardian will be taken, followed by fingerprints and signatures of both parents or guardians.
  • Parents/guardians will receive a printed copy of the form.
  • An attested version of the application form will be sent to the parent or guardian, who will have to submit it with the attested copy.

A parent or guardian who provides their biometric verification at the registration center can skip the attestation process. CNICs must also be held by the person providing biometric verification.

NADRA Birth Certificate

A NADRA birth certificate replaces the old manual birth certificate with a more modern and authentic version. It is a computerized birth certificate that contains both an English and an Urdu record of the child’s birth.

Special NADRA paper is used to print NADRA birth certificates. Every NADRA birth certificate has a unique CRMS number and Form number. NADRA enters the applicant’s birth record into its database when it issues a birth certificate.

Pakistani Nadra Birth Certificates require the following documents:

  • Applicants must submit their CNICs/NICOPs
  • Copies of both parents’ CNICs/NICOPs
  • A copy of the passport of the applicant
  • Copies of old hospital certificates
  • An application form

  1. Contact the relevant issuing office based on your current address. Union councils in all major cities can provide NADRA birth certificates, including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Hyderabad, and Peshawar. Cantonment Board offices can give it to residents of cantonment areas. Residents of many small towns may also obtain NADRA birth certificates from TMA offices, while Islamabad residents may obtain them from CDA offices.
  2. Obtain a birth certificate by filling out the application. This issuing office also provides the application form. Make sure the application has all the necessary documentation. A department may request additional documents in addition to those mentioned above.
  3. It is necessary to submit the application form, supporting documents, and official fee to the same office that issues the license. In order to determine the official fee for NADRA birth certificates, an officer from the issuing office will review your documents.
  4. The same issuing office can provide computerized NADRA birth certificates on a specified date.

A NADRA birth certificate typically takes 3 to 5 working days to issue with all the required documents.

A birth certificate is not issued by NADRA directly. It is fully authorized by NADRA to issue NADRA birth certificates to those citizens in the following cities and areas utilizing NADRA-installed systems:

  • A Union Council is present in every district and major city, including Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
  • Some cities and regions have Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs)
  • The Capital Development Authority in Islamabad

How long does it usually take for NADRA to issue a Birth Certificate in Pakistan?
